This is the most common and widely used combination of materials. The rivet body is lightweight, whilst the mandrel provides stable tensile strength. It is suitable for most standard sheet metal joining applications.
Aluminum body/Steel mandrel Peel Type Blind rivet
Aluminum shell with carbon steel core, puncture-resistant, suitable for soft materials.
Aluminum body/Aluminum mandrel Open Rivets
It is lighter overall and offers better corrosion resistance than aluminum-clad steel-core combinations. It helps reduce rusting of the steel nail core. It is suitable for applications requiring lightweight solutions.
Aluminum Body/Aluminum Mandrel Closed End Blind Rivets
It is lighter overall and offers better corrosion resistance than aluminum-clad steel-core combinations. It helps reduce rusting of the steel nail core. It is suitable for applications requiring lightweight solutions.
Steel body /Steel Multi Grip Pop Rivets
It offers superior tensile and shear strength. With higher strength than aluminum rivets, it is suitable for industrial assembly applications involving some vibration, such as industrial equipment, vehicle components, and metal brackets.
Aluminum body/Stainless steel mandrel Open Rivets
This product combines the lightweight, easy-to-install, and corrosion-resistant properties of aluminum, making it ideal for applications that require optimal weight, aesthetic appeal, rust resistance, and assembly stability.
Steel Body/Steel Mandrel Closed End Blind Rivets
Featuring a steel rivet body and steel rivet shank, it provides superior clamping force and shear resistance, making it ideal for the industrial assembly applications involving frequent impacts, vibration, and heavy-duty conditions.
Stainless Steel body/Stainless Steel mandrel Multi Grip Pop Rivet
Compared to aluminum or standard steel, it offers the highest levels of corrosion resistance, durability, and long-term stability. It is particularly well-suited for humid, outdoor, or corrosive environments.
Carbon body/Carbon mandrel Open Rivets
This product offers higher joint strength and superior tensile and shear resistance. It is suitable for steel plate connections, metal enclosures, sheet metal structural components, and general industrial assembly applications.
Stainless Steel Body/Stainless Steel Mandrel Closed End Blind Rivets

Steps of Blind Rivet Installation
- Insert the rivet into the pre-drilled hole, ensuring that the rivet head sits flush against the workpiece.
- Place the rivet gun’s nozzle over the rivet mandrel and hold the tool vertically.
- Activate the rivet gun and pull the rivet mandrel to expand the rivet body and secure the workpiece.
- Once the rivet mandrel breaks off, the riveting is complete. Check that the rivet is secure and flush.

Our Certificate
Rivmate has established and maintains a quality management system that complies with IATF 16949 and ISO standards. Quality control covers key stages such as raw material procurement, incoming inspection, production process control, and final inspection. All critical processes strictly adhere to clearly defined control standards and documentation requirements.
- Comply with ISO 9001
- IATF 16949 Quality Management
- Consistent batch quality and traceability.
This system has been widely implemented across the supply chain for electronic and electrical equipment, as well as sheet metal structural components for equipment enclosures. It helps ensure the stability, consistency, and traceability of products throughout the long-term supply cycle.
Applications of 3.2 mm Pop Rivets
3.2 mm Pop Rivets are suitable for joining thin sheets in the housings of electrical and electronic equipment, LED lighting fixtures, and home appliances. They provide a more secure fastening than 3 mm rivets while maintaining a small hole diameter and a clean appearance.
Enclosure for electrical and electronic equipment
A 3.2mm diameter is slightly larger than 3mm, making it a more reliable choice. It provides a larger contact area and better stability during riveting. At the same time, it does not require a larger hole like the 4mm version does. Therefore, it is more suitable for thin-sheet fastening applications such as standard electrical enclosures, control boxes, and small chassis.
LED lighting fixtures.
The housing of LED luminaires consists of a backplate, end caps, mounting brackets, and an aluminum shell assembly. A 3.2 mm diameter provides better structural support than a 3 mm diameter while retaining the advantages of a small hole diameter.
Thin-Sheet Connections in Home Appliances
3.2 mm pop rivets are commonly used in the housings, internal brackets, and metal covers of small home appliances that experience slight operational vibrations. The 3 mm size is more sensitive to slight vibrations, whereas the 3.2 mm size effectively avoids this issue.

What certifications to look for in 3.2mm pop rivets
You should focus on these two certifications: ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
ISO 9001 is a foundational quality management system certification. It demonstrates that a supplier has standardized quality management processes in place to better control the quality of raw materials, production, inspection, and shipping.
The IATF 16949 system places greater emphasis on process control, batch consistency, problem prevention, and quality traceability.
Are there any specialized 3.2mm pop rivets for soft materials?
Large Flange Aluminum 3.2mm Pop Rivets are suitable for soft materials.
These rivets have a larger contact area at the head. This helps distribute the clamping force and reduces the risk of tearing through the material. Additionally, aluminum requires relatively less installation force, resulting in less impact on soft materials.
What is the shear strength of standard 3.2mm pop rivets?
Standard Open Type 3.2mm Pop Rivets:350-1800N
Peel Type 3.2mm Blind Rivets:500N
Sealed Type 3.2mm Blind Rivets:460-2000N
Multi-grip 3.2mm Pop Rivets:650-1700N
Uni-grip 3.2mm Blind Rivets:1200-2000N
For detailed specifications, refer to the technical data sheets for 3.2 mm pop rivets.
What are the advantages of closed-end 3.2mm pop rivets?
Closed-end 3.2mm pop rivets provide better sealing, superior protection against contamination, and more stable rivet mandrel retention.
Closed-end 3.2mm pop rivets have a closed tail. After riveting, the internal channel of the rivet does not remain open, unlike open-end rivets. This helps prevent liquids, air, and dust from entering the interior of the rivet.
Are there waterproof 3.2mm pop rivets available for outdoor projects?
We recommend that you give priority to galvanized Sealed Type 3.2mm pop rivets.
Closed-end 3.2mm pop rivets can improve water resistance. However, their actual water resistance also depends on the installation hole diameter, the flatness of the sheet metal surface, and whether the grip range is appropriate.

what are 3.2 mm pop rivets
3.2 mm pop rivets are small-diameter pop rivets with a shank diameter of 3.2 mm; they are also known as 1/8-inch pop rivets or 1/8-inch blind rivets.
3.2 mm pop rivets consist of two parts: the rivet body and the mandrel. During installation, a riveting tool pulls the mandrel, causing the tail end of the rivet to deform on the back side of the material and form a clamping structure, thereby completing the riveting process.
Are there specific coatings for 3.2mm pop rivets to enhance durability?
1. Galvanizing
Galvanizing is a common basic anti-corrosion treatment suitable for general industrial anti-corrosion needs.
2. Color Coating and Custom RAL Colors
Color coating is an option when brand aesthetics require color matching.
3. Anodizing
Anodizing improves the surface texture of 3.2mm aluminum pop rivets and enhances the stability of the aluminum surface.
4. Stainless Steel Passivation
Passivation further enhances the stability of the stainless steel surface. It is suitable for connection points with high corrosion resistance requirements in humid environments.
5. High-Corrosion-Resistance Coatings
For projects involving long-term outdoor exposure, humid environments, or industrial equipment, zinc-nickel, Dacromet, or other customized corrosion-resistant solutions can be used.
