Classified by Material
Hex Rivet Nuts are available in two materials: carbon steel and stainless steel. Choose the appropriate material based on the requirements of the specific application.

Carbon Steel Hex Rivet Nut
Carbon Steel Hex Rivet Nuts are suitable for applications that require mechanical strength, cost-effective bulk purchasing, and reliable industrial assembly. Carbon steel is the more cost-effective option.

Stainless Steel Hex Rivet Nut
Stainless steel Hex Rivet Nuts suited for projects with higher requirements for corrosion resistance, long service life, for outdoor environments. They are in industrial assembly applications where rust prevention is critical.
Classified by size
Hex Rivet Nuts are available in a comprehensive range of sizes from M3 to M12. Rivet nuts of different sizes have different grip ranges and are suitable for different applications.

M3 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 0.5–3.0 mm. It is suitable for precision assembly applications with limited space, small connection points, and low load requirements.

M8 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 1–5.5 mm. It is suitable for industrial applications such as equipment housings and structural support components that require higher load-bearing capacity and higher torque.

M4 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 0.5–4.0mm. It is suitable for lightweight connections and provides a stable internal thread while maintaining a low-profile appearance.

M10 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 1–6 mm. It is suitable for large-scale equipment, heavy-duty sheet metal structures, and other applications requiring larger bolt connections and higher-strength assemblies.

M5 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 0.5–5.0 mm. It has a wide range of applications and is suitable for most medium-strength industrial sheet metal assembly needs.

M12 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 2.0–8.0mm. It is suitable for high-strength fastening applications; the appropriate model should be selected based on the actual board thickness, hole diameter, and installation conditions.

M6 Hex Rivet Nut
The grip range for this size is 0.5–5.5 mm. It provides stronger threaded connections and is suitable for applications requiring higher assembly strength.
Classified by Bottom Structure
Hex Rivet Nuts are available in two types—Open End and Closed End—based on their bottom design. You can choose the appropriate type based on installation space, sealing requirements, and operating environment.

Open End Hex Rivet Nut
The Open End Hex Rivet Nut features an open bottom design, making it suitable for general industrial sheet metal assembly and standard threaded connections.

Closed End Hex Rivet Nut
Classified by External Surface Structure
Hex rivet nuts can be classified into full hex rivet nuts and half hex rivet nuts based on their external shank structure. Different external structures directly affect the product’s anti-rotation performance, installation stability, applicable torque range, and procurement cost.

Full Hex Rivet Nut
The shank of the Full Hex Rivet Nut features a fully hexagonal design. During installation, the hexagonal shank engages with the hexagonal hole to create a more secure mechanical lock, providing superior anti-rotation performance.

Half Hex Rivet Nut
The Half Hex Rivet Nut features a partially hexagonal design. It offers anti-rotation benefits while being more suitable for light- to medium-duty industrial assemblies in terms of cost, installation compatibility, and versatility.
Classified by head shape
Hex rivet nuts come in two head types: Flat Head Hex Rivet Nut and Reduced Head Hex Rivet Nut. You can select the appropriate head type based on your specific application.

Flat Head Hex Rivet Nut

Reduced Head Hex Rivet Nut
The Reduced Head Hex Rivet Nut has a smaller head diameter than the standard flat-head design, reducing the visible head area after installation. It is suitable for assembly locations with limited installation space or where a clean, neat appearance is required.

Steps of Rivet Nut Installation
- Insert the rivet nut into the pre-drilled hole, ensuring that the head of the rivet nut is flush with the surface of the workpiece.
- Screw the pull rod of the rivet nut gun into the internal threads of the rivet nut, and hold the tool vertically.
- Activate the rivet nut gun and pull the rod to expand and deform the tail end of the rivet nut, clamping it securely to the workpiece.
- Once riveting is complete, retract the rod in the opposite direction. Check that the rivet nut is secure and confirm that the head is flush with the surface.

Applications of hex rivet nut
The hexagonal flat surface of the Hex Rivet Nut creates a mechanical stop against the hole wall, effectively reducing the risk of the rivet nut spinning freely inside the hole when the screw is tightened or removed, or when the equipment vibrates.

HVAC Equipment
The outdoor units, maintenance panels, electrical control boxes, and fan housings in HVAC equipment require the removal of screws during maintenance. Hex Rivet Nuts can address issues such as nut slippage, thread loosening, and unstable connections in thin-gauge sheet metal during maintenance.

Automotive Sheet Metal Components
Many connection points in automotive assembly must withstand vibration, torque, and long-term operational loads. If the hole alignment is unstable, standard round rivet nuts may not provide sufficient support. The hexagonal structure of the Hex Rivet Nut better prevents the product from rotating within the hole.

Transportation and Rail Equipment Panels
In rail transit and transportation equipment, many sheet metal panels and internal structural components are constantly exposed to vibration. For connection points that require screw installation, future maintenance, and stable anti-rotation protection, Hex Rivet Nuts are more reliable than standard round-body rivets.

How do hex rivet nuts compare to weld nuts in terms of strength?
Hex rivet nuts have a pull-out strength of approximately 6–50 kN. Weld nuts have a pull-out strength of approximately 3–11 kN.
Hex rivet nuts provide a more consistent mechanical pull-out strength in thin-sheet connections; the strength of weld nuts, however, depends more on welding parameters and the quality of the welds.
How to choose the right hex rivet nut for aluminum panel assembly?
First, you need to confirm the thickness of the aluminum sheet and select the appropriate grip range; second, you need to confirm the size and material of the hexagonal hole. Depending on the required connection strength, choose either a full hex or a half hex. Finally, before proceeding with mass assembly, be sure to conduct installation tests and pull-out tests.
Advantages of using hex body rivet nuts
Advantage 1: Better anti-rotation performance;
Advantage 2: Suitable for installation in hexagonal holes;
Advantage 3: Less likely to slip when tightening;
Advantage 4: More suitable for thin sheets, aluminum sheets, and sheet metal parts;
Advantage 5: Suitable for applications involving repeated disassembly and maintenance;
Advantage 6: More stable than round-body rivet nuts in applications with torque requirements.
What causes hex rivet nuts to fail during installation?
Installation failure can occur if you select the wrong grip range, use the incorrect hex socket size, or apply an inappropriate installation torque.
Installation failure can also result from the panel being too soft or too thin, using the wrong screw length or tightening torque, or selecting an incompatible material.
What are common applications for hex rivet nuts in electronics manufacturing?
Hex Rivet Nuts are commonly used in applications such as metal enclosures for electronic devices, industrial control cabinets, power supply enclosures, and telecommunications equipment cabinets.

what is Hex Rivet Nut?
A Hex Rivet Nut is a rivet nut with a hexagonal shank, also known as a Hex Body Rivet Nut, Hex Rivnut, or Hex Nutsert. The hexagonal structure of the Hex Rivet Nut’s outer shank requires installation into a matching hexagonal hole.
Once installed, the flat surface of the hexagonal shank engages with the hole wall to create a mechanical stop, thereby enhancing anti-rotation performance. This reduces the risk of the rivet nut spinning freely inside the hole during screw tightening, removal, or repeated maintenance.
What are the differences between hex rivet nuts and round rivet nuts?
1. Different External Structures
Hex Rivet Nuts feature a hexagonal shank. Round Rivet Nuts feature a round shank.
2. Different Anti-Rotation Performance
Hex Rivet Nuts offer superior anti-rotation performance. Round Rivet Nuts are more suitable for general-purpose, light-load connections.
3. Different Hole Requirements
Hex Rivet Nuts require hexagonal holes. Round Rivet Nuts require only round holes.
4. Different Applications
Hex Rivet Nuts are suitable for industrial assembly applications requiring anti-rotation, specific torque values, or repeated disassembly and reassembly. Round Rivet Nuts are better suited for general-purpose thin-sheet metal connections and light-load fastening.
